Karin Ahlberg, RN, PhD
Karin Ahlberg, RN, PhD is a Nursing Researcher in the Department of Oncology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. She was formerly the Head of the Unit of Research and Development at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Dr. Ahlberg received her Master's of Science Degree in Nursing and her Doctorate in Nursing from the Faculty of Health and Caring Sciences, Institute of Nursing, GÖTEBORG UNIVERSITY, in Gothenburg, Sweden, and her University Certificate in Oncology Nursing (RN) from the Karolinska Institute, in Stockholm, Sweden.
An author and international lecturer, Dr. Ahlberg's current research projects include the experience, outcomes, and risk factors of cancer-related symptoms, including fatigue; presymptomatic genetic testing; genetic counseling and education in clinical practice; the ethics and psychology of genetic testing; and the psychological aspects of supporting and counseling oncology patients and their caregivers. She has published several articles in such journals as the Anticancer Research, Biological Research for Nurses, Journal of Advanced Nursing, Lancet, European Journal of Cancer Care, European Journal of Oncology Nursing, and the International Journal of Nursing Studies. She has also contributed to such textbooks as the Manual for Clinical Trials Nursing (Oncology Nursing Press), A Textbook for the Specialist Nurse (Churchill Livingstone), and Cancer and Fatigue (European School of Oncology).
Dr. Ahlberg is an active member of the European Oncology Nursing Society (EONS), serving as a Member of the Board, Editor in Chief of the EONS Newsletter, and Associate Editor of the European Journal of Oncology Nursing (EJON). She is also an active member of the Swedish Oncology Nursing Society, having served as a Member of the Board and a Member of the Editorial Board.
