James R. Berenson, MD, is the Medical and Scientific Director of the Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research (IMBCR) and CEO of Oncotherapeutics in West Hollywood, California. Dr. Berenson previously served as Director of the Multiple Myeloma & Bone Metastasis Programs in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the UCLA School of Medicine.

Dr. Berenson is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.

With research interests that include antibodies, T-cell receptors, cytokines, oncogenes, viruses, bone disease, and stem cell transplantation in lymphoid malignancies, Dr. Berenson was active in research projects as a member of the Departments of Medicine and Biological Chemistry at the UCLA School of Medicine. He served as Chief of Medical Oncology and Cancer Research, as well as Associate Director of Research, at the Greater Los Angeles Veterans Administration Healthcare Systems. He has conducted clinical trials related to multiple myeloma and the treatment of metastatic bone disease and has authored or coauthored books, articles, and abstracts published in such journals as Blood, Cancer, Cancer Research, Journal of Clinical Investigation, Journal of Clinical Oncology, New England Journal of Medicine, and Science. Dr. Berenson recently published a textbook entitled the Biology and Management of Multiple Myeloma. He is an invited lecturer known internationally for his expertise on multiple myeloma and bone metastasis.

Dr. Berenson serves on the Scientific Boards of the International Myeloma Foundation, the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, and the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
